WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., June 1, 2016 — This year, Chatsworth Products (CPI) celebrates 25 years of providing quality products and solutions that protect valuable technology investments around the world. CPI is a 100 percent employee-owned company founded by a small group of individuals who were committed to delivering high-quality products to the rapidly growing information technology (IT) market. Today, CPI has engineering, manufacturing and sales offices across the United States and around the globe.
CPI was founded on June 27, 1991, when 90 employees joined together and bought out the Dracon Division of Harris Corp. using an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). What began as a limited portfolio of racks, runway and accessories, has grown to more than 90,000 standard products that range from high-density server cabinets, to intelligent power distribution and environmental monitoring products.
This forward-thinking spirit is what motivates CPI to delight its customers by responding rapidly with tailored standard and custom solutions that give them a higher return on investment. For example, CPI’s groundbreaking Passive Cooling® technology resulted in a shift in the way companies designed and managed their data centers.
CPI changed the way the IT industry stored and protected computer equipment with the introduction of state-of-the-art cable management and pioneering thermal management products and solutions. CPI’s expert engineering team and agile manufacturing practices have enabled the company to meet customers’ changing needs with a level of customization uncommon in the industry.
This level of personalization continues to be a fundamental part of the company’s success and is what drives innovation to its product lines. CPI’s superior innovation and high standard of quality has resulted in many patents and awards. Every product design begins with meeting a customer’s need.
The company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing and sales locations in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific have provided the ability to tackle any customer problem, regardless of size, scope or location. Additionally, CPI’s partnership with leading global distributors provides its customers with a large selection of standard products at a moment’s notice.
From the Regents Emirates Pearl Hotel in Abu Dhabi to Telefônica Vivo, the largest integrated telecom in South America, to Oregon’s greenest Tier III colocation data center, CPI has provided complete solutions that not only protect technology equipment, but help companies meet today’s standards for green IT.
CPI greatly appreciates the words of encouragement received from all its long-standing business partners. Per CEO Michael Custer, “On this special occasion, we also want to recognize the great importance our distributors have played in CPI’s success. We thank them for their kind words, and look forward to all the exciting opportunities we see with them in the future.”
“Change in business is inevitable. While much has happened in the past 25 years, something we have always been able to count on has been our valued partnership with Chatsworth. Across all levels of the organization their dedication to creating world class products is only surpassed by their dedication to world class customer service. Accu-Tech is proud to call CPI a partner,” states Bill Geary, President of Accu-Tech.
Bob Eck, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anixter, commented, "In 1991, Anixter and Chatsworth Products, Inc. established a distribution relationship serving the US. Over 25 years, that relationship has evolved into a worldwide strategic partnership. We are pleased to have been a key business partner throughout Chatsworth's first 25 years, and we look forward to greater mutual success as our businesses continue to change and grow in the future. On behalf of everyone at Anixter, I would like to congratulate Chatsworth on its 25th anniversary."
“Graybar and Chatsworth have a strong working relationship that dates back to Chatsworth’s original founding,” said Graybar Chairman, President and CEO, Kathy Mazzarella. “Because both of our companies are employee owned, our values are closely aligned, with a shared commitment to industry leadership and customer service. We congratulate them on achieving 25 years of success.”
“On behalf of the WESCO management team, I would like to congratulate the entire Chatsworth organization on your 25th anniversary,” said David Bemoras, Global Vice President of Sales and Marketing for WESCO Distribution. “I’ve had the privilege of working with the CPI organization since 1997 and have witnessed the innovation, quality, and best-in-class service culture that you’ve become known for in our industry.
